A. SILVER (Standard) – 3 Months Parts Only or 5,000km (whichever occurs first)
Coverage: 3 Months (90 Days) from the date on the invoice.
Benefit: Covers the repair or replacement of the defective mechanical unit (Engine/Transmission) only.
Labour: NO LABOUR IS COVERED. The purchaser is responsible for all fitment, removal, and re-fitment costs.
B. GOLD (Extended) – 6 Months Parts Only or 10,000km (whichever occurs first) – 15% Surcharge
Coverage: 6 Months (180 Days) from the date on the invoice.
Benefit: Covers the repair or replacement of the defective mechanical unit only.
Labour: NO LABOUR IS COVERED. The purchaser is responsible for all fitment, removal, and re-fitment costs.
C. PLATINUM (Premium) – 6 Months Parts & Labour or 10,000km (whichever occurs first) – 20% Surcharge
Coverage: 6 Months (180 Days) from the date on the invoice.
Benefit: Covers the repair or replacement of the defective part AND a contribution towards professional labour costs.
Labour Claim Calculation (MTA Standards):
Time Standard: Labour hours approved will be based strictly on the MTA (Motor Trades Association) / Manufacturer Standard Repair Times for the replacement of the bare assembly. Cardiff Auto Wreckers does not pay based on the workshop’s invoice time or “clock time.”
Hourly Rate Cap: Labour is paid at a legitimate trade rate up to a maximum of $100.00 AUD per hour (GST Inclusive).
Liability Cap: The total combined liability for parts and labour shall strictly NOT EXCEED the original purchase price of the unit shown on the invoice.
Exclusions: Does not cover diagnostics, towing, car hire, fluids, consumables, or seals.
1. Licensed Installation Required To qualify for this warranty, the part must be installed by a qualified, licensed motor mechanic (holding a valid Motor Vehicle Repairer Licence in their State/Territory).
Installation by unlicensed persons, backyard mechanics, or DIY attempts immediately VOIDS this warranty (subject to Australian Consumer Law).
2. Mandatory Service Requirements To validate the warranty, the installer must perform the following services at the time of fitment and provide a tax invoice as proof to Cardiff Auto Wreckers:
Engines: New engine oil and filter, new timing belt/chain (if recommended by manufacturer schedules), new thermostat, new water pump, and new front/rear main seals. The cooling system (radiator) must be professionally flushed or flow-tested.
Transmissions: New filter (if serviceable), new pan gasket, new input/output shaft seals, and manufacturer-specified transmission fluid. The transmission cooler lines must be flushed to remove debris.
3. Heat Tabs (Overheating) Engines supplied by Cardiff Auto Wreckers are fitted with a heat-sensitive tab.
If the heat tab has been melted, removed, or tampered with, it indicates the engine has been operated at temperatures exceeding safe limits.
Overheating is NOT covered under this warranty. It is the installer’s responsibility to ensure the cooling system is functioning correctly.
4. Accessories & “Change-Over” Items This warranty covers the Long Block (Head and Block) or Transmission Assembly only.
Any accessories left on the unit for convenience (e.g., alternators, starter motors, manifolds, sensors, injectors, wiring looms, water pumps, thermostat housings) are NOT covered.
The installer must transfer the vehicle’s original accessories to the replacement unit. Cardiff Auto Wreckers does not warrant sensors or electrical components left on the used unit.
5. Oil Leaks & Gaskets
Warranties do not cover oil leaks from external seals, gaskets, or O-rings.
It is standard trade practice to replace major seals (Rear Main, Front Main, Cam Seals) prior to installation. Costs for fixing leaks after installation are not covered.
Notification: You must notify Cardiff Auto Wreckers of any potential fault prior to removing the unit or beginning repairs. Please submit your warranty claim through our website contact form.
Authorization: Cardiff Auto Wreckers must issue a written Claim Authorisation Number before any work commences. Unauthorised repairs will not be reimbursed.
Assessment: Cardiff Auto Wreckers reserves the right to have an independent assessor inspect the vehicle or to request the part be returned to our premises for inspection.
Settlement: Cardiff Auto Wreckers may, at its sole discretion:
Supply a replacement part of similar age/condition.
Repair the existing part.
Refund the original purchase price.
